Many years ago around 1979 I used this floatant from orvis that was thick white that stuck to the tips of the fly and never gave off a gassy film. I fished with some of the best old timers who showed me to take the floatant on a emerging nymph behind the hackle to give the fly a built up waxy look. I wish i could find something that will come close.

Nice one Eelke, thanks for sharing. Nice site as well.
Now you are into traveling to fish you should consider NZ it is fantastic! :D If you ever make it down here let me know and I will organize a few days on the Tongariro.
All the best.
Mike.

I appreciate Odense. In relations to that what we drive normally to go fishing are fourty minutes peanuts. On the other hand I see it as an option - if it is necessary you can reach the most other attraktive fishing places within just the same time. Maybe we should discuss alternatives if we meet in Odense.

By the way: Thanks at all which are involved for organizing that all again!

Ingar,

I'm afraid it's not easy to find this tool. As far as I know it's not produced anymore, and you will have to rely on stock. Try some of the Danish online shops and ask: Go Fishing, Korsholm, Sport Dres, Brasholt, Leisuretime and whatnot. Use Google to find them.

The houses at Wedellsborg are booked so far in advance that you may need to ink your name on the list for the GFF 2011 summit.
Prices are expensive and catering is done by - us.
Cleaning is another issue. The house will have to be left spotless and that's time spent away from the water.

It's sounds rather fun and cosy but I doubt anyone is willing to put the time and effort into cooking and cleaning without the odd arguement and scrapping and bitching about whos turn it is. Believe me, we'll come up with endless excuses. Prevention is better than cure!!!

I personally think that Martin does a great job organising the whole event and rather than people throwing suggestions into the mix etc, they should stand up and do something to aid his hard earned effort.

What's the other option...if your unhappy with Odense?
Hunting down a quiet patch of turf closer to the venue and pick up the phone.

Folks,

Options are thinning out... Fredericia on the other side of Lillebælt is out. No vacancies...

Odense where we have stayed the other years hasn't returned yet but promised to do so soon. If they have the space I'll make the reservation and make sure that we have a place to stay. It might be 40 minutes away from our preferred water, but it has a roof and beds and food inside!

Martin

Olle,

Thanks!!! I am linking to your site so that Michael may have access to your contact information off my BLOG.

Nice clean patterns. They look like they'd shrink down to worm-like shapes when wet though. For big pike I found, girthy flies get their attention more often than skinny flies.

Just a tip. ;-)

oh gosh!
wf 10 is already coming and is to late-but it make a sense what you say! Thanks anyway will do that next time.

Folks,

It seems that finding vacant hostels or similar facilities with room for 40 people in September isn't as easy as I thought. I have tried Assens and Fredericia, which is close, but September seems fully booked.

None of the places I have asked has enough room for us, so I have now asked Kragsbjerg in Odense again, but not heard back yet.

Regarding the houses on Wedellsborg, I would sure like to stay there too, but first of all we might be a bit late to book them, I have no idea what they cost (I expect them to be expensive), and we (read: I) will probably have to arrange shopping, cooking, cleaning and whatnot, which I am very reluctant to do, so I honestly haven't looked further into that option.

I will return with news about a place as soon as I know more.

Martin

Hi again,
My offered sinking line is not the best choice for you then..
Big mama is quite a nice line, but there is one rule. Ir your rod is #10 then you need to buy #11 line and cut about one meter from tip. Then it will cast reallllly large flies! I tried this trick with #9 line and #8 rod. It works well! Another opportunity is Rio Outbound and maybe some Loop models. I tried one (maybe 10wt Opti Stillwater)on some 10wt Loop rods and without fly it casts extremely GOOD! All line plus 2-4m of backing!

Tight LINEZ,

offcourse...Let him contact me i live near amsterdam (12km) and he can always join me for a day of flyfishing for pike, carp, seabass. We don't have wild trout but thre are afew trout fishery's in Holland.

Cheers Olle

In somestores ive seen chuk duck specific rods that come with two interchanganle handles (short and long). Whats the purpose of the two different handles?

I've done some research and ordered cortland pike rocket taper and vision big mama(funny name you want to see what comes up when you google it  )
the last one has a slow sinking head and inter running. We'll results soon and I'll post a review. Thanks for the help guys

great topic ! hate to see only man/woman with big fish pictures. Bent rod pictures are one of the other options.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
