Great fly,
I tie a similar style greenwells glory using a naples yellow midge floss and splitting the floss and adding very fine rabbit fur
that gives the fly the same type of killer edge as your fly just scale everything down.

I have to correct myself. The material used for the Fluff isn't SLF - but STF (Synthetic Translucent Fibre). Sorry - sometimes not only fish are stupid :-)

Reminds me of a simple version of Hansen's Electric Frog which I've been using for bass. Martin doesn't allow urls in the comments but you can find a picture with a web search.

Catch and Release should be considered more with game fishing. Its anoys me when i am fishing and i see anglers knock fish after fish on the head, there is no need, its just greed.
Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time

I tied up about four Czech Nymph looking flies with a glass bead head. I weighed the shank with some lead though...I read this post previously. I then saw a tungsten bead headed Czech Nymph...and thought I wonder how cool a glass bead would be. So I am trying different hooks out now. The glass bead head looks great, but I am not thrilled with my hook choice. I will probably post a fly on my Photobucket if I can get a couple I am fairly happy with.

I found a black squirrel hide sold at Gander Mountain. (I bought it at the store, not online) I do not know if it was natural or dyed black though.

As you say Martin, very innovative system.
Those of us that tie tube flies have seen a number of different ideas this past few years but I believe this new system is going to the one that takes the cake.
We are in the process of setting up a distributor for North America and hope to have the product in shops asap.
If any one has any questions or enquiries please contact me at your leisure.
Regards Neil.

This may be a long shot but I am looking to buy another Sully's rod finisher. I bought one 3 years ago when I helped a Varsity Scout troop learn how to make their own custom fly rods. Before our 5 day pack/fishing trip through the Uintah's I loaned it out to one of the boys who was late getting his finished and never got it back. Sadly I think it's history. Can anyone direct me to where I can get another one? The one I had before had two rubber reel seat holders instead of just one like the photos show. I would like another double one if possible. My son wants to make his own rod now - I couldn't be more excited. Please help me :) Thanks

Hola Carlos
Great work, let's continue Releasing & enjoying even more the Catching for the longest time.

Michal,

Vision Koma is also a fine reel, but I honestly think the Okuma is way better.

Mine is rated for a 7 weight line and is quite large, but very nice and light.
There's a 5/6 and a 7/8 model. The capacity is as promised. The 5/6 model holds a 6wt + 50 meters of backing, so I'd think the 7/8 will be good for you.

Martin

Just on time! ! I went for vision koma but just managed to cancel an order. I wish I was as good angler as you are reel hunter :) . Which model you recommend for WF6F+100 meters 20lb backing? I need to say I was misled many times about reel capacity by on-line info. Sometimes is just enough space. Thank you for all you help!

Nice Pike Fly easy to cast with short leaders and larger lines... One that feels right when you use it in Pike colors... Just seems fishy. Also good for late season big lake Macinaw in the shallows in Western Lakes white with red and black head.... Ever seen a bad Popovic Fly? Me neither...

One of my most enjoyable days ever was spent casting soft hackles from a small island with a quartering breeze. The wind bobbed the flies hanging below an indicator. I kept the line tight and the hookups were violent. Beautiful sunny day with my wife's father and uncle. Both gentlemen now deceased, I used Nemes patterns and the yellow with fur thorax as I remember almost never finished a drift. When the conditions are right, this is one of the best style flies to use. Yours look fabulous. I will add them to the soft hackle box.... thanks

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
