Those are some very nice pics Andre, thanks very much.
I am off to fish the Tongariro tonight and I hope to have as good a time as you obviously did in Norway.
All the best.
Mike.

Hi Martin,
I will be visiting Denmark next summer, probably in August. My family and I will likely rent a summer house. Do you have any suggestions as to a particular town to stay in to put me into the best fly fishing water? I fish both fresh and saltwater. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ben Winkler
Patrick,
Of course you can use red floss in stead! No problem. No fly pattern is set in stone, and you can always improvise. I have used yellow and tan as well, but just like the orange color.
Martin
nice picture , but this fish isn't a cod , it's a pollack ! ( Lyr in norwegian)
These wetflies are the most beautiful I ever have seen. They are as high class as classical salmon flies.
I love your wetflies. I have never seen mor beautiful wetflies before
Thank you
Hi Martin
I love San Pedro. I stayed twice at El Pescador, but it's getting too expensive for me to stay there by myself. I usually bring a friend with me, but he cannot make this trip, so I will have to travel alone.I fished with guides and also shoreline fished North of the resort. Which side of the bridge is better, North or South? What is the best way to go? By Bike, Kayak or Go cart? I have a hard time catching bones from the shoreline on a fly. What is the secret? The fish can't see the fly because the Tyrtle Grass is too dense. What resorts do you recommend to stay? I emailed many resorts. and narrowed it down to three (3). Reef Condos and Villas Resort right next to Coco Locos are North of the bridge. Xanadu Resort and Carribbean Villas are located South of the bridge. If you have something in mind let me know. Some of these resorts offer Bikes and Kayaks for free.Martin, great article, "On Your Own".

Richie.
I've read Keiths autographed book on thunder creek. this book was given to Vern Nyquist who fished with Keith in Iceland in 1981. Vern passed away a few years back in Connecticut. I also fished with vern, a great sportsman.
No praise too high. These pages are a real exibition space.
As for bronze mallard winging, I've never managed to match opposing slips. I've reasoned that there is insufficient barbing on the fibres to prevent splaying when locked with thread. One technique, and the only alternative I know of, is to trim a slip 3 times the size of the desired width of wing and "fold" or "roll" each end inwards. The resulting laminate of 3 slips can be manipulated between the fingers to shape the final wing profile.
This will give a fairly solid profile to the wing, but the fineness of the mallard fibres will allow sufficient movement to suggest life in the water. Definitely not as delicate as your work in these pages but who knows, with your skill at the vice, you might take "folding" or "rolling" to a new level.
In appreciation............Stephen Scanlan
Guys,
I'm still counting heads here. It seems we will be maybe 8-10 people and some friends might join us along the road, so we need either a couple of large summer houses or some scout cottage or whatnot.
The catering will be laid back and delicious - and most likely self made - and I expect the whole thing to be fairly inexpensive.
I'm looking into a couple of options and will let you all know.
Martin
congratulations guys !
thanks for all the hard work that you have put into this site, hardly a day goes by where I dont visit GFF.
keep it up.
Congratulations GFF Staff!!! (Joergensen/Petti/Schweitzer/Skehan/Muhlbach)
Great article with so interesting numbers!
I hope we can see article number 2000 soon.
Thanks for all on those 1000 articles!
Congratulations to all of the GFF crowd.
A truly stunning achievement.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Ole,
Thanks for your words! If you search on Internet for "woven flies" you'll find some tying instructions with illustrations. There is also a website called "crotcheted flies"! I found this technique some years ago on a book, and the results are allways nice.
Those were the first illustrations of a tying process I've made. I'm glad you like them! I hope I can improve with the next ones.
Best,
Carlos
To prevent leader recoiling & tangling after being snagged (second last para above) splice in one full length of braided or fused superline. I use 4lb bs Berkely Fireline. There is almost zero stretch in this line.
Hallo Carlos,
nice article and nice fly! I did not understand the weaving completely but maybe I have to try it out and see then if it works or not.
Did you do the drawings on your own? They are really great and making your report different to the ones "just" with photos.
Regards,
Ole
This is one of the most productive flies I use for brook trout here in central Newfoundland and I couldn't wait to try the dubbed version this spring. I've added a little glitter to the fly by adding a small amount of diced crystal flash to the dubbing and it has worked wonders.
Thanks for hint Martin - I've already ordered :-)
Martin! I wish you best with your health and that is my #1 thing!
Second is : the timing of the summits was a bit off, at least for me....
Because EVERYTHING is happening in that time of the year...so many fishing peaks and work-conferences, schools start...
Is it really best time for fishing in Denmark in September????
If it would be in let's say late June when days are long and spring fishing slowly gets out of it's peak...???who knows...Mabye it will be easier? Seatrout and garfish should be there?
I'm not sure about fishing there but this is just my opinion
Anyway get well and hope to see you soon somewhere!

… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
